The Orphan Car Meet was held on a beautiful day where we enjoyed a variety of cars in a nice setting with great people. This was the 7th year of this event at the Clackamette Park in Oregon City. It was sunny and almost hot, but pleasant in the shade by the river. The SDC volunteers who put on this event were again ready to go before the posted time and the gates opened at 9:00 AM. By noon we had 94 cars and trucks entered, and food donations of $104 cash and many cans of food. Major participation by the Studebakers (37), AMC (22), and Mopar (14) cars was supplemented by a wide vary of makes including 2 very beautiful and unusual Nash Healeys, and even a Sabra from Israel. Five non-orphan vehicles also showed up. I am always amazed at how many different orphan cars, that I have not seen before, show up each year. This year we had the AMC club join us as a group and we were happy with the amount of participation that they brought to the event. They have been invited back for the 8th annual event next year. |

Hugo's Taco Truck was back again this year and seemed quite busy. In addition a model car vendor also returned this year. Best of Show and $50 was won by a very nice 1954 Nash Healey. First place awards in various car age brackets went to the following cars: a Packard, an Edsel, a Mercury, a Javelin, two Plymouths, and three Studebakers. All first and second place winners have been posted on this website. In addition, this year a photograph of the best of show and first place winners was taken and will be used in the 2016 flyer for this event. Again, because of all the hard work and time put in by the volunteers at this meet, we had a well received event, and an increase in attendance which resulted in netting around $600. This will provide the needed funds to reserve the park and pay the fees for next year. Thank you all for helping put on this event and for attending. Phil Peters
